Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival @ Pelham
When: Saturday, April 11, 2015 1:30-3:30pm
Where: Pelham Art Center, Pelham, NY
Details: Hands-on workshops and activities in the traditional arts of Japan as part of our Folk Arts Series. Free and open to the public. Artist Shoko Iwata will lead two workshops in traditional Japanese floral art from the Sogetsu School of Ikebana. Running simultaneously, weaving artist Yukako Satone of Loop of the Loom will instruct participants on how to weave a cherry blossom on a SAORI loom, a contemporary Japanese hand-weaving method. A traditional Japanese tea ceremony will be performed twice during the event in the main gallery by Junko Nanahara.

Pinkalicious the Musical @ Tarrytown Music Hall

Details: A musical adapted from the Pinkalicious book. Pinkalicious can't stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor's office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe - a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this predicament.

Kuba Tie Dye Workshop @ Neuberger Berman Museum
When: Saturday April 11, 2015 1-4pm
Where: Neuberger Berman Museum, Purchase, NY
Details: The people of the Kuba Kingdom used plants and minerals from their environment to color their clothing for special occasions. With special guest, textile conservator Tatiana Verdon, we will explore the Kuba tie-dye techniques and the colors they used when dying their precious cloths. Roll your sleeves up and create your own tie-dye cloth that you can take home! Family Second Saturdays feature art experiences for the whole family, with conversations and hands-on workshops. Free admission for all program participants.

It's a Beautiful Day in Our Neighborhood @ Chappaqua, NY

Where: Downtown Chappaqua
Details: Downtown Chappaqua will be abuzz from 11am to 4pm April 11 for the first annual “It’s A Beautiful Day in Our Neighborhood” community awareness/spirit event. It will be offering children and their families an opportunity to meet town officials, first responders, shopkeepers and other “important” neighbors with a map that pinpoints all of the fun stops and activities, special treats, programs, projects and give-aways.

Science Barge Opening @ Yonkers, NY

Details: Family friendly fun and tours of our hydroponic greenhouses and renewable energy systems. Ribbon cutting and media event at 2:00pm

Salamander and Frog Safari @ Westmoreland Sanctuary
When: Saturday April 11, 2015 1pm-2pm
Where: 260 Chestnut Ridge Rd, Mt Kisco, NY 10549
Details: Take a close up view of our salamanders, frogs, and their eggs in our center.  Then travel to the pond to try to catch some.  We will listen for their calls and may even travel to a special breeding area on the Sanctuary.  Ages 5 and older.  $5 per person for non-members and free for members.

Cacth Me @ New Victory Theater

Details: A kids show by Flip FabriQue from Quebec City, Canada. For kids ages 5+. Hoops twirl, diablos whirl, and acrobats soar—all in a day's work (or play!) for Flip Fabrique, the new kids on the circus scene. Orchid Show @ New York Botanic Garden

Tours for Fours @ MOMA

Where: Museum of Modern Art, NYC
Details: Free Art Program for Four-year-olds and their caregivers. Look, listen, and share ideas while you explore modern and contemporary art. Kids must be four years old to attend this program. **This program is free for individual families of up to two adults and up to three kids. Programs begin in The Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Education and Research Building, at 4 West 54 Street (near Fifth Avenue)

A Closer Look for Kids @ MOMA
