Rose Garden Festival @ New York Botanic Garden
When: Saturday and Sunday June 6-7, 2015
Details: Immerse Yourself in a Sea of Blooming Beauty! The Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden is a sea of warm color, flush with the reds, whites, yellows, and pinks of nearly 700 rose cultivars. In celebration of the delicate beauty that defines this collection, as well as the peak of its seasonal color, stop by for two days of live music, plant care demonstrations and tours with expert rosarians, and light summer refreshments in the shade of the garden's overlooks.

Learn to Build a Load 'n Go Truck @ Home Depot
When: Saturday June 6, 2015 9am-12Noon
Details: Come learn how to build a Load 'n Go Truck. FREE hands-on workshops; designed for children ages 5 - 12. All kid get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Kids Workshop activities are scheduled on a first come/first served basis.

Daddy & Me Animal Show @ Rye Nature Center
When: Saturday June 6, 2015 9:15am
Details: Fathers can drop-in with their kids for this fun-filled animal adventure. $10/family members, $15/family non-members.

Weather and Washes Outdoors @ Wave Hill Garden
When: Saturday June 6 2015 10am-1pm
Where: Wave Hill Garden, Bronx, NY
Details: Take your artistic spirit outdoors and notice the subtle and forceful changes occurring in nature. With visiting artist Angela Dufresne, currently exhibiting in Wrath: Force of Nature, this summer’s exhibition in Glyndor Gallery, capture what you see by combining mists of watercolor with stains, splashes and drips to make an atmospheric vision. Free, and admission to the grounds is free until noon.

Camouflage @ Lenoir Preserve, Yonkers

Details: Learn how animals make use of camouflage to survive in the wild.

Don't Bug Me @ Greenburgh Nature Center
When: Saturday June 6, 2015 1pm
Where: 99 Domore Rd, Scarsdale, NY
Details: Scuttle on over and explore the fascinating world of insects on the Nature Center's grounds. Then get as close as you dare as a naturalist introduces some of our six-and eight-legged friends. Ages 4 and up. Members $5/person, Non-Members $8/person

Nature Scavenger Hunt @ Cranberry Lake Preserve
When: Saturday June 6, 2015 1-2:30pm
Details:  Take a leisurely walk through the preserve in search of natural objects, then return to the nature center for a prize.

Summer Ecology Walk @ Read Wildlife Sanctuary
When: Saturday June 6, 2015 1-2:30pm
Where: Read Wildlife Sanctuary, Playland, Rye
Details: Find out what is going on in nature at this time of the year during a stroll through the preserve.

Open Wide @ Greenburgh Nature Center
When: Sunday June 7, 2015 1pm

Details: Slither on over and join a naturalist to learn all about snakes and lizards during a lively, hands-on (if you dare) presentation that is sure to engage and enlighten all ages. Fun for the whole family. Members $5/person, Non-Members $8/person

Frogs 'n' Dogs @ Cranberry Lake Preserve
When: Sunday June 7, 2015 12pm-3pm
Where: Cranberry Lake Preserve, North White Plains
Details: Ponding, crafts and a bonfire  -- a perfect way to spend the day!

Stream Study for Kids @ Ward Pound Ridge Reservation
When: Sunday June 7 2015 1-3pm
Where: Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Cross River
Details: Take an in-depth look at the creatures that abound in the streams of the reservation.

Paper Planet @ The New Victory Theater, NYC
When: June 6-7, 2015
Where: The Duke on 42nd Street, NYC
Details: From Melbourne, Australia. For kids ages 2 and up. Venture into a wild woodland unlike any other. There, a dragon! Look, a butterfly! In PAPER PLANET, kids and their adults team up to explore a jungle of cardboard trees filled with paper flora and fauna. Folding, scrunching and crawling, families contribute
original art and populate the ever-changing environment with their own rustling paper creations. When the mic comes around for a chance to chime in and add silly sounds to the music of Mother Nature, kids are sure to get wrapped up in this forest of fun.

Westchester Children's Museum Open @ Rye

Westchester Children's Museum is now open for the season. It is located on the boardwalk at the Playland in Rye. The museum’s hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.  http://discoverwcm.org/

Children Zoo Reopened @ Bronx Zoo
The Children's Zoo at the Bronx Zoo has been upgraded and reopened on May 30.
