Besides the World Cup finals, there are tons of other interesting events this weekend including French Independence Day Celebration at a few different locations. We have also listed a couple of events for mid-next week including Shakespeare in the Park.
Bastille Day Celebration @ Piermont
When: Saturday July 12 Noon-10pm
Where: Piermont Avenue, Piermont, NY
Details: French flags will flap along the avenue where restaurants and shops will have outdoor tables. The streets will fill with live music and the pleasant aromas of traditional French, Italian, Continental, Mexican, Irish and American cuisine served by local restaurants. Festival goers are encouraged to show up in 18th century clothes for a costume contest and the reenactment of the Bastille Day march. Glass blower and sketch artists will be on the street.
Luminous Paper Lanterns @ Wave Hill
When: Saturday and Sunday July 12-13, 2014 10am-1pm
Where: Wave Hill Garden, Bronx, NY
Details: Cut nature shapes from brightly multicolored tissue paper. Then, with a simple papier-mâché method, use your cut shapes to make festive lanterns that will brighten and make magical your summer days and nights. Free, and admission to the grounds is free until noon.
Walking With Dinosaurs @ Bronx Zoo

Bastille Day Concert @ Lyndhurst Castle
When: Sunday July 13 4pm-5pm
Where: Lyndhurst Castle, Tarrytown, NY
Lyndhurst and Copland House invite you to celebrate 'almost' Bastille Day with a concert in Reception Room of Lyndhurst mansion. Copland House salutes independence, both American and French, with music from the American cannon played on the American fiddle, with an extra kick of music from French composers that influenced the Americans. The one hour concert is followed by a reception with the artists featuring champagne and French cheeses on the Lyndhurst veranda. Tickets $25 available in advance.
