Zero: Nothing or Everything @ Neuberger Museum

This is part of the Family Second Saturdays Series that feature art experiences for the whole family, with conversations and hands-on workshops for kids tots to ten, accompanied by an adult. Free admission for all program participants.

Outdoor Painting @ Wave Hill

When: Saturday Sept 13, 2014 10am-1pm and Sunday Sept 14 10am-1pm

Details: Put your abstract spin on the nature you see around you. Follow the easy techniques of New York native abstract painter Helen Frankenthaler: “Landscapes were in my arms as I did it.” Using your whole wrist and broad brush strokes, apply paint to create your favorite Wave Hill landscape scene.

Color of Fall Family Walk @ Wave Hill

When: Sunday Sept 14, 2014 1pm, Meet at Perkins Visitor Center
Where: Wave Hill Garden, Bronx, NY
After joining the Family Art Project, continue exploring the theme—or take your artwork in new directions—with a naturalist on a family-friendly walk. Explore the intensity and value of colors in nature around Wave Hill. Naturalist and educator Gabriel Willow investigates a spectrum of colors found in plants and creatures on a stroll through the gardens and woodlands. Ages six and older welcome with an adult. Free with admission to the grounds.

Bear-Foot Storytime @ Greenburgh Nature Center

Where: Greenburgh Nature Center
Details: Join a naturalist for storytime, based on our popular Wild Encounters Storytime held weekly on Monday afternoon. This hour long program includes a story, live animals, and a nature-themed activity. Recommended for children ages 2-6. Members $5, Non-members $8

Tribes Hill Music Festival at John Jay Homestead

Apple Picking and Fall Festival @ Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard

When: Saturday and Sunday 10am-5pm every week till Columbus Day

Details: Pumpkin patch will be available starting September 13.
