Long Island Oyster Festival

Details: The Oyster Festival, the East Coast's largest waterfront festival with more than 200, 000 attendees, returns this October for its 32nd year, offering a fun mixture of new activities and old favorites that are certain to entertain the entire family, including live entertainment, Tall Ships, top-notch artisans, pirate shows, midway rides, and the iconic oyster eating and shucking contest. Admission is FREE. Parking is FREE. And MOST activities are FREE.

Fall Festival @ Read Wildlife Sanctuary
When: Saturday, Oct 17, 2015 Noon-5pm
Where: Read Wildlife Sanctuary, Rye, NY
Details: Celebrate the bounties of Fall in this beautiful county park on the Long Island Sound. Animal exhibits, bugs, bees and birds of prey show. Cool jazz and great food. Hands-on arts & crafts. Face painting, Pumpkin Patch and much, much more. $10 admission includes everything except food & drinks (kids 3 & under free).

Fall Bird Migration Hike @ Marshlands
When: Saturday, Oct 17, 2015, 1-3PM            
Where: Marshlands Conservancy, Rye
Details: Bring binoculars if you have them to seek out the late fall migrants, along with some raptors.

Be a Bee @ Wave Hill
Details: Saturday Oct 17 2015 10am-1pm
Where: Wave Hill Garden, Bronx, NY
Details: Join us for this classic Family Art Project. Outfit yourself with wings, antennae, a pollen cup and a kazoo to hum with. Buzz around in a hive of six-sided cells and forage in the flowers. Join in a bee parade and do a bee dance in a cardboard hive. Parade at 12:30PM, weather permitting. Honey Weekend event. Free, and admission to the grounds is free until noon.

Autumn Celebration @ Muscoot Farm

The Gruffalo @ The New Victory Theater

Details: Our favorite Halloween tradition, Boo at the Zoo, is back at the Bronx Zoo, weekends in October, including Columbus day. "Dino Trains" Annual Halloween Train Show @ Katonah
When: Saturday and Sunday Oct 10-11 2015 11am-3:30pm
Where: Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial, Katonah
Details: A dinosaur-themed Halloween train show, with dinosaur dioramas and exhibits, and the movie "Rexy the the Dinosaur," along with a hay maze and hayrides. Admission $7 adults, $3 children ages 2 - 12. Additional fees for other activities.
