Cinderella Ballet @ Palace Theater

Details: One of the most beloved fairy tales of all time comes to life as a charming ballet, impeccably danced by professional and student dancers.For centuries the story of Cinderella has held a special place in the hearts of both children and adults alike. Audiences of all ages will watch in delight as their favorite characters, Cinderella and her evil stepsisters, the Fairy Godmother, and of course, the handsome Prince, come alive in this production by Breaking Ground Dance Center.  

Peeking Into the Season @ Wave Hill

Where: Wave Hill Garden, Bronx, NY
Details: As winter creeps in, we’ll create small, flip-open, paper dioramas—holiday cards or calendars with secret, hide-away rooms for the season. Then join visiting artist  Virva Hinnemo in the Sarah and Geoffrey Gund theater to help her make a group mural of the winter landscape, with a snow curtain, underground hideaways for burrows and a luminous, star-filled sky. Free, and admission to the grounds is free until noon.

Greenwich Holiday Stroll Weekend @ Greenwich

Details: Enjoy fun festivities for the whole family both Saturday and Sunday throughout downtown Greenwich. Visit LIVE reindeer and get your photo with Santa at McArdles! Live Nativity featuring nine animals and Greenwich area churches, two different horse drawn carriage rides, horse petting station at Wine Wise, live music entertainment tent featuring outstanding singing performances, professional ice sculpture demos, The Food Truck Village in the Board of Education parking lot on Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich Arts Council holiday art workshops, letter writing to Santa and much more. Holiday Open House @ Chappaqua

Where: Horace Greeley House, Chappaqua

Details: Kids of all ages can make old-fashioned Christmas crafts, like cornhusk dolls and paper chains, from 1 to 5 pm. As darkness falls, the tree lighting celebration gets underway and includes a visit from Kris Kringle.


The Nutcracker @ Tarrytown Music Hall

Details: A Music Hall/Music Without Borders Co-presentation. An enchanting hour-long production of The Nutcracker, created for younger audiences, yet sophisticated enough for adults! Founded in 1978 by artistic director Diana Byer, New York Theatre Ballet has earned national attention for its artistry and elegant restorations and revivals of masterworks by great choreographers.

Westchester Winter Wonderland @ Valhalla
When: Now through Jan 3 2015 5pm-10pm
Where: Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla
Details: You can meet Santa, go ice skating, take a walk down Candy Cane Lane (towering illuminated candy canes line the walkway), or take a hay ride and catch the musical light show. This event was such a hit last year, they decided to bring it back, and it looks even better. There’s also shopping as well as dinner or hot cocoa, if you need a nosh. Admission is $15 per person.

Holiday Train Show @ Greenburgh Nature Center

Where: Greenburgh Nature Center, Scarsdale

Holiday Train Show @ NYBG
When: Now till early January 2016
Where: New York Botanical Garden, Bronx, NY
Details: The New York Botanical Garden’s Holiday Train Show begins on Saturday, November 21, and runs through early January. It’s a timed ticketed event that enchants with more than 150 New York landmarks recreated in miniature out of bark, twigs, leaves and other materials from the natural world.

Big Apple Circus @ Lincoln Center

Where: Lincoln Center Damrosch Park 62nd St, New York.
Details: Show time is approximately 2-hours. The big top of the Big Apple Circus, crammed into a corner of the Lincoln Center plaza, is not exactly gargantuan. But it’s large enough to host prancing stallions, capering dogs, a couple of clowns, a score of swirling hula hoops and throngs of leaping acrobats. This year’s show, “Big Apple Circus: The Grand Tour,” is friendly, beguiling and emphatically humane, from the smallest poodle to the tallest stilt walker.

Details: Tschaikovsky’s iconic score transports you to a world of wonder where mischievous mice are foiled by toy soldiers come to life, and a blizzard of ballerinas reveals the enchanting Land of Sweets. This is “the mother of all Nutcrackers” (The New Yorker) — the version that originated a beloved American tradition. The performance is 2 hours.
