Insect Hunt @ Rye
When: Saturday, Oct 8 2016, 1pm
Where: Rye Nature Center
Details: Join an FRNC naturalist as we take a hike through the woods in search FRNC’s local insects. Learn their importance in our local ecosystem and end with a chance to get up close with our resident Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Suggested for ages 4 to 7. $5/person members, $8/person non-members.

Girls who Code @ Harrison Library
When: Saturday, 1-2:30pm
Where: Harrison Library
Details: Don’t miss the Girls Who Code Club for girls in grades 6-12.  “Curious about computers? Join our club and learn to code! Build cool projects, learn about working in the tech community and gain valuable skills for your future.  This is an ongoing program where each week builds on skills learned in previous weeks.  Registration required.  

Pumpkin Picking @ Somers
When: Oct 9 2016 12-3pm and Oct 10 12-3pm
Where: Muscoot Farm, Somers
Details: Take a hayride out to the farm patch and pick your pumpkin. Fee for hayride and pumpkin.

Scarecrow Making @ Stamford Nature Center
When: Sunday Oct 9 2016, 2-3pm and 3-4pm.  
Details: Although some materials are provided, families are encouraged to bring clothing or accessories to help with their creation. One scarecrow per family. Supplies are limited to 12 families per session, pre-registration is recommended due to popularity. Please call 203.977.6521 to register.  Members: $5 per family | Non-Members: $5 per family plus gate admission.”

Halloween Train Show @ Lasdon Park
When: Oct 8-10, 15-16, 22-23, 29-30 11am-3:30pm
Where: Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial, Somers

Columbus Day Weekend @ Barton Orchards

Festival Weekend @ Harvest Moon and Orchards
Details: Harvest Moon and Orchards is having a festival weekend this weekend!  They feature hayrides, apple and pumpkin picking, face painting, hayrides, music, food, and more!

Other Apple picking farms include Silverman’s Farm in Easton, CT, Wilkens Farm, Stuart’s Farm, etc.

Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze
When: The blaze will take place on October 7-10, 13-16, 19-31, Nov. 3-6, 10-13. This weekend is sold out so plan ahead.
